About Strandhill Community First Responders
Strandhill Community First Responders (CFR) are volunteers who are trained to attend certain types of emergency calls in the Coolera Peninsula area.
Our aim is to reach a potential life threatening emergency in the first vital minutes before the ambulance crew arrives.
Our role is to help stabilise the patient and provide the appropriate care including defibrillation, until the more highly skilled ambulance crew arrives on scene to take over the treatment.
Strandhill CFR group are linked to the NAS National Emergency Operations Centre and are alerted automatically to an emergency in the Coolera Peninsula, as we are community based we can provide medical assistance within minutes of a 112/999 call being received.
The group of volunteers was formed in early 2021 and after extensive training, linked to the National Ambulance Service Ireland on the 3rd of August 2021.
Our Mission
Upon receipt of a 999/112 call Strandhill Community First Responders are dispatched simultaneously with the National Ambulance Service. Strandhill Community First Responders are only dispatched to Cardiac related calls within the Coolera Peninsula covering a area of 7km radius within our Communities. Because the people “on call” live or work in their area, we can respond in minutes and provide emergency measures and reassurance until the Ambulance Service arrives.
Our Vision
The vision of the group is to provide local volunteers who are trained in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation – CPR and use of a Automated External Defibrillator – AED.
